Union Square derived its name from its early days of rallies and support for the Union Army during the American Civil War, which earned its designation as a California Historical Landmark. It was built and dedicated by San Francisco's first American mayor John Geary in 1850 with many notable changes elevating its appearance throughout the years. Today, this one-block plaza and surrounding area holds one of the most desirable collections of department stores, upscale boutiques, gift shops, art galleries and beauty salons in the country, making Union Square a major tourist destination and a beloved gathering place in downtown San Francisco.

A: Yes.
 
Q: How may I pay for my stay at Hotel Bijou?
A: We accept most types of credit cards. However, we do not accept gift cards. For guests paying with cash, the hotel needs room and tax paid in full on the day of arrival, plus $250.00 to cover incidentals. The $250.00 will be recovered at checkout time upon approval of management that all is in order in the room.

A: The Hotel Bijou can be accessed by various methods from the airport. A taxi will cost on average of $55.00. We recommend Lori’s shuttle, which will cost $17.00 per person.
